Dimboola is a tiny town about 4 hours drive out of Melbourne - essentially in the middle of nowhere. Outside of the middle of nowhere, however, is a salt lake made a brilliant pink from pigment secreted by microscopic algae. With the recent addition of a drone to my photographic arsenal, I made sure we made it out there to capture this naturally occurring phenomenon from the sky.

Based on some research I found out the pink colour was more intense during the middle of the day when the sun was up high, and also just after rain. The latter was harder to control and predict, especially at the end of Summer/beginning of Autumn in Australia, but we did at least manage to arrive in the middle of the day. Unfortunately, the wind was pretty intense during this time and it made for a lot of difficulty when flying the drone. Luckily, I managed to capture some images when the wind died down for short periods which resulted in the image here.
